Win a $1,000 scholarship by submitting a short essay about workers’ compensation—the “grand bargain” between employers and labor—and where it stands today in relation to its initial objective.
ATLANTA, Ga., October 22, 2018 — An Atlanta-based workers’ compensation law firm has kicked off its 2019 Scholarship Essay Competition, in which one student will be chosen to receive a $1,000 scholarship to the college or university they are enrolled in. Students who wish to apply have until January 31, 2019 to submit their essay in response to a specific question about worker safety and injury liability.
In order to be eligible, students must be United States citizens or non-U.S. citizens currently residing in the US, and currently registered at a US college or university. To enter to win the scholarship, students must submit a unique 300-500 word essay that hasn’t been submitted elsewhere, along with a signed and completed application form, a photo of themselves and a brief bio. Only one submission per student will be considered. The essay should focus on the origins of workers’ compensation in America and how we are or aren’t living up to that ideal.
“By privately funding this scholarship program, we hope to remove some of the stress and financial burden students face these days due to the rising cost of school and mounting student debt,” said Ben Gerber, co-founder of Gerber & Holder Workers’ Compensation Attorneys. “We’re proud to support students of all ages and backgrounds in their pursuit of higher education. We aim to help create opportunities for the next generation because we know that every little bit helps!”
